Mojtaba Ghanbarian

Full Name: Mojtaba Ghanbarian Sani Qassem Abad.

Alias: Parsa

Place of birth: Ramsar

Age: 33 years old

Mojtaba Ghanbarian is one of the key Quds Force operatives working in Africa.  Ghanbarian operated in Somalia and visited it several times over the past two years. He traveled to Somalia on the following dates:

January 2014 - April 2014

July 2014 - September/October 2014.

May-June 2015.

Ghanbarian was in charge of handling two Kenyans on behalf of Quds Force:  Abubakar Sadiq Louw and Yassin Sambai Juma, who were detained in Nairobi by Kenyan police in October and November 2015 accordingly, on suspicion of terror and espionage on Iran's behalf. In their questioning, it was learned that Sasiq Louw spotted Sambai Juma for Quds Force, organized for him to visit Iran, and connected him with Ghanbarian, his Quds Force handler.

Afterwards, Ghanbarian ordered Yassin Sambai Juma to collect information on Western targets in Nairobi for mounting attacks, and met him in Iraq for operational training provided by Ghanbarian, assisted by a Quds Force instructor. On 19 November 2015, shortly after Juma returned from operational training in Iraq, he was detained by the Kenyan police for involvement in terror activity.

Juma has admitted that Ghanbarian had arranged to meet him again in Tanzania in the spring for further instructions and training, and to receive the names of additional recruits for Quds Force from Kenya.

In June 2012, an attack that Quds Force tried to prepare in Kenya was foiled. Two Iranian operatives were detained and about 15 kg of explosives were seized. The two operatives were Ahmad Abolfathi Mohammad and Seyed Mansour Mousavi, who were tried and sentenced to life imprisonment for their plan to mount attacks against Western embassies in Nairobi.
